If you encounter an error while reading system configuration data on your PC, we hope this blog post will help you.

The error message is caused by the BIOS. “System configuration
Data” is often information about the computer’s hardware that can be cached
CMOS provides information about hard drives, etc.

    1. Try resetting the BIOS to default settings by pressing the F2 key while the computer is running. If that doesn’t work, it’s likely that the operating system has stopped working. This is in case you need to reinstall Windows.
    2. This can usually be caused by a dislike of, or modification to, hardware and software. Solve a common problem:
      1. Paste the Windows installation and restart your computer
      2. Select your region and click “Next”,
      3. Repair your home computer.
    3. Today, the most common cause of CMOS failure is battery drain, not the battery
The main power of the laptop is from electric batteries, but a very small battery to the motherboard
This keeps the internal CMOS memory intact when the laptop is turned off. It
fairly easy to balance on larger computers (you buy one
battery replacement inany hardware store) but it can be any amount
it’s more difficult/burdensome to change it with a laptop.

  • HELP Error Reading System Configuration Data

and also by ih8alexandwindex about 17 years, 2 months ago

I have a great HP Pavilion laptop and every time everything boots up the system config data is updated
    Error reading system config data
F1 to resume or F10 to access configuration

and when it tries to launch experimental windows it just fills the screen and freezes.

I’ve reset the defaults in preferences and also tried reinstalling new okon backup, but they also hang before starting Windows.

I don’t know what to do, maybe it’s the cmos battery?
